CHAPTER NINETEEN

SEPTEMBER 21

EVELETH, MN

EVENING

Walking back towards town, Lester was content to let his new buddy, Ratchet, lead the way. He knew he would be able to control this group, because the voice told him he could. It was never wrong, and Lester had learned to trust the voice, although it had led him astray with that bitch.

I did not. You failed in subduing him.

“But he had that fucking dog,” Lester whispered so the others couldn’t hear him.

Doesn’t matter, it was your fault.

“Can I still have that bitch?”

Yes.

“How?”

By doing what I tell you.

Lester grinned as his manhood swelled, thinking about her.

They were heading back to the Hall of Fame to see if there were any members of the club left alive. During the walk, Ratchet had told him that the president of the club was dead, as were most of their members. They didn’t have that many people left but were committed to seeing that the family met their end. Lester was fine with that, as long as he could have that big-breasted bitch.

Arriving back at the Hall of Fame, the group searched around for any survivors, but so far only found death. Lester could feel himself getting aroused being next to so much death.

Hide it. They won’t understand.

As much as he wanted to revel in the lust of death, he knew the voice was right. They would never understand how it moved him, how it motivated him, how it crept into his very being. No, they wouldn’t get it, and by the time they did, it would be too late. He would own them.

“Lester, you ok, man?” Ratchet called out.

Hide it better.

“Yeah, I just can’t get a grip on how this family can kill without thought or mercy. They need to be stopped,” Lester replied.

Very good.

“Don’t worry, man. We’re gonna get those fuckers. As long as your intel is good, we’ll get them,” Ratchet said.

Be better.

“My intel is solid. I know where they are going,” Lester replied.

You need vehicles.

“Not to tell you what to do, but wouldn’t finding some working vehicles make sense?” Lester suggested.

“Yes, it would. Good thinking,” Ratchet replied.

They continued to search the scene, occasionally finding a club member that was alive, barely. They had to put the poor souls out of their misery because their wounds were too gruesome to overcome. Maybe if hospitals had still existed, they could have been saved, but not now.

As they went along, they collected all the arms and ammunition they could find. It was an impressive haul and far too much for them to use by themselves, or even carry, for that matter.

“I’m gonna go look for a vehicle,” Lester called out.

Lester went in search of a vehicle that would work. He walked back to the neighborhood that they had gone through earlier. It was a modest housing development, and all of the driveways were filled with newer vehicles. None of these would work.

Junkyard. Across the highway.

Lester listened to the voice and walked back across the highway. There was a junkyard located there, with tons of old vehicles.
